「English Camp 2022を行いました！」

2022年1月27日から29日まで、国際教養科1年生によるイングリッシュ・キャンプが行われました。コロナ感染状況の拡大により、今年はオンラインで開催しました。オンラインでの開催は初めての試みで、参加していただいた8名の県内ALTの皆さんも生徒たちも、上手くいくのだろうかと、はじめは少し不安に感じていました。しかし、結果的に、私たちの想像以上に素晴らしい有意義なイングリッシュ・キャンプとなりました。 オンラインでの開催であったからこそ、新しい、興味深いイベントを行うことができました。例えば、アプリを使ったゲーム、マスク無しでのスピーチコンテスト、グーグルスライドを共有しながらの紙芝居作成、趣味や特技、さらには自宅で飼っているペットの紹介などです。生徒たちの前向きで積極的な姿勢と、真摯に課題に取り組む態度、そしてALTの先生方の献身的な協力によって、今年度のオンラインでのイングリッシュ・キャンプは大成功に終わりました。 三日間、英語を使って過ごした生徒たちはその後、英語を聞いたり話したりすることに自信を持ったように見えます。さらに、コミュニケーションを多く取ったおかげで、クラスの絆もより深まったように思います。この活動を支えてくださったALTの先生方も、楽しんで生徒たちと時間を過ごすことができたようです。先生方に頂いた最後のスピーチにその思いが溢れていました。たとえオンラインであっても、前向きな気持ちで精一杯取り組めば、目標を達成できる・・・これこそが今回のイングリッシュ・キャンプで学んだことです。 最後に、このイングリッシュ・キャンプ2022に多大なるご協力をいただいた、8名のALTの先生方はもちろん、中心となって計画を進めた本校ALTのChelsey先生、Max先生、そして様々な形でサポートしてくださった本校の先生方、さらに保護者の皆様に、心よりお礼申し上げます。

The English Camp 2022 was held from January 27 to 29. Due to the unusual circumstances related to the pandemic, it was held online this year. Having Someya’s English Camp online was completely new to all ALTs. Not only the ALTs but also all the students were a little anxious at first. However, it surprisingly turned out to be a great success beyond our expectations. Because it was online, many interesting and unique features were found: fun games using Apps, a speech contest without wearing masks, making picture stories sharing google slides, showing their hobbies, talents or even pets from home to the class and so on. The positive attitude and hard work of the students and great dedication of the ALTs all together made this English Camp an epoch-making event. After spending three whole days together using English, the students seem to feel much more confident in speaking and listening to English. Moreover, they seem to feel more comfortable being members of class 1-7. The ALTs who supported all students in fabulous ways also seem to have enjoyed this camp. Even online, it is possible to achieve their goals, if they try. This is exactly what we learned through this English Camp 2022.　 We would like to say a huge thanks to everyone who participated and contributed to this Online English Camp 2022!
